Islamabad,
15 July 2009: Deputy Chairman ERRA Lt
Gen Sajjad Akram inaugurated
newly constructed reconstruction and
rehabilitation projects and inspected
various under construction projects in
the earthquake affected areas of
Muzaffarabad today.
Senior Officials of AJK Government
including DG SERRA and other officials
of ERRA accompanied the Deputy
Chairman during the visit.
Deputy Chairman inaugurated the newly
reconstructed Government Primary
School Lohar Gali, which was
reconstructed under EEAP. The Deputy
Chairman met students of the school
and commented that the newly
reconstructed school would provide
them better environment for furthering
their studies.
Deputy Chairman also inaugurated Kardla ( Sahali Nulla) Baily and Ghan
Chattar Bridges constructed under EEAP,
at total cost of Rs 8.5 Million and Rs
9.8 Million respectively. The
completion period of these projects is
6 months. Ex Forest Minister Mr
Murtaza Gillani was also present in
the inauguration ceremony.
On this occasion Deputy Chairman said
these bridges would bring convenience
for transportation of the commuter and
would enhance the possibility of
economic integration of the area.
Deputy Chairman also visited
Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayad Al-Nahayan
Hospital Muzaffarabad, which has been
reconstructed with the assistance of
the UAE government.
He said that this hospital is equipped
with modern facilities which are not
available in other hospitals of
Pakistan. He urged the concerned
department and local public to ensure
protection and proper utilization of
this facility.
Deputy Chairman also inspected Nalochi Bridge (West Bank Bypass
Project) Muzaffarabad and directed the
concerned department to expedite the
construction work, so that the project
may be completed in accordance with
time lines. It is a mega project which
will be completed in November 2011 at an
estimated cost of Rs. 2 billion. The
said bridge is planned to be named as
Earthquake Memorial Bridge.
Later in the day, the Deputy Chairman
held a meeting with members of AJK
Legislative Assembly, including
Minister for Planning and Treasury,
Minister for Forest, Ex Forest
Minister and Additional Chief
Secretary. During the meeting the
progress of various ongoing
development projects were reviewed.
The Members of AJ&K legislative
assembly expressed their satisfaction
with
the pace of development projects and
appreciated the role of ERRA and the
Government of Pakistan.
The Deputy Chairman also met with the
general public of the earthquake
affected areas and listened to their
complaints about various problems. He
directed the concerned authorities to
resolve the grievances of the
affectees immediately.
Deputy Chairman also met media persons
and had a detailed discussion
regarding the
development projects in the earthquake
affected areas of AJ&K. |
