Service to humanity is the highest form of worship
says Chairman Senate, Farooq H. Naek.
He was speaking as chief guest at MoU
signing ceremony between ERRA and
Humanity Hope (HH), a US-based NGO
run
by ex pat, for the reconstruction and
re-habilitation of Government Boys
High School Shamdara, Teh: Oghi,
District
Mansehra, here last evening.
The Minister for Science and
Technology Mr. Azam Khan Swati,
Secretary Senate, Raja
Muhammad Amin
and Deputy Chairman ERRA, Brig. Masood
Ahmed were also present on the
occasion.
The Chairman said the spirit of
sharing and caring witnessed during
October 2005 earthquake must be kept
alive to keep
the morale of the nation
high. We need revival of this spirit
to mitigate the sufferings of the
displaced people of Swat, lower
Deer Buner etc who have left their hearth
and homes to enable the law enforcing
agencies conduct successful operation
against the miscreants.
“October 2005 earthquake was a
watershed in our history as it united
the whole of Pakistani nation and a
common bond was established from
Karachi to Khyber”, he observed.
People demonstrated unusual sense of
urgency and sacrifice in providing
relief to their brethren affected
earthquake. Today, he said, we need
similar commitment to help out the
affectees of Malakand Division who are
looking forward expectantly to rest of
Pakistan to mitigate their sufferings.
“The glaze in the eyes of small
children waiting for a healing touch
must propel 170-million strong nation
to act urgently and decisively for
rehabilitation of the IDPs”, he added.
The Chairman commended efforts of
Humanity Hope and other such
organizations engaged in relief work
and urged them to supplement
government’s efforts in this regard.
It may be mentioned that this project
is jointly sponsored by Humanity Hope,
Pak German Association and Alpine Club
of Pakistan. The over all cost of the
school is US$ 384,000 and it will
benefit 500 students per year. The
project includes 10 Class Rooms,
laboratory, Exam Hall, Administration
Block, provision of furniture,
computers and water supply. The
project will start in May 2009 and
will be completely by January 2010.
