On
March 31, 2010 Lt General Sajjad Akram,
Deputy Chairman ERRA, visited the
earthquake affected areas of AJ&K and
NWFP. While talking to the affectees
of earthquake, he said that Rs. one
billion had been spent on the
reconstruction and rehabilitation of
earthquake affected areas of AJ&K, and
an additional Rs. one billion would be
expended on the completion of
remaining reconstruction projects in
AJ&K. He informed the people that
managing these projects after
reconstruction was the responsibility
of the concerned line departments of
the State Government.
He expressed his confidence that
remaining projects in education,
health and WatSan will be completed
soon. He further stated that thousands
of projects had been completed in the
earthquake affected areas at a cost of
billions of rupees, while the
remaining projects are at different
stages of completion. The completed
projects have contributed
significantly towards raising the
living standard of people.
His visit to Muzaffarabad and Ghari
Dupatta also included the inauguration
of Government Girls High School, Gari
Dupatta, Transformer Repair Workshop
Dhunni and Government Girls Primary
School Turne Ambore. The Deputy
Chairman also met teachers and
students to educate himself about
their problems. He gave orders for the
supply of water to Girls Primary
School, Turne Ambore, on top priority.
Naib Nazim of Elementary Department
Muhammad Munir Qazi, while
appreciating ERRA and SERRA for the
reconstruction and rehabilitation in
the affected areas, told the Deputy
Chairman that the impressive buildings
of educational institutions have been
constructed by ERRA in the affected
areas, would provide latest
educational facilities to the local
people. Project Coordinator of EEAP
Ch. Liaquat Hussain and Programme
Manager DRU Muzaffarabad, Ghulam
Bashir Mughal briefed the Deputy
Chairman about the construction of
schools and transformer repair
workshop.
Earlier, the Deputy Chairman
inaugurated the WatSan project in
district Bagh, which will benefit
three villages. The Deputy Chairman
also inaugurated different WatSan
projects in Oggi, and Government Boys
High School, in district Mansehra.
