On October 20, 2009 Minister for Science and
Technology Mr. Azam Khan Swati along with the
Deputy Chairman ERRA, Lt Gen
Sajjad Akram, Ambassadors of selected countries,
heads of international organizations,
representatives of donors agencies,
media and academia from prominent institutions
visited various facilities in the health, education
and other sectors
reconstructed by ERRA in the earthquake affected
areas of Abbottabad district. The visit was
arranged to educate the
honourable Minister, senior Government officials
and other stakeholders about the progress of
projects, which are under
construction or have been planned for construction
in the quake affected areas by ERRA. The visit also
afforded an
opportunity to the visiting dignitaries to see the
impact of facilities which have already been
completed by ERRA in these
areas.
While speaking to the media the Minister for
Science and Technology appreciated the quality and
engineering as well as
architectural aspects of constructed facilities. He
hoped that the infrastructure constructed in place
of destroyed buildings
besides providing modern facilities to the users,
will suffice to cater for the future needs of the
ever increasing
population in these areas. The other members of the
delegation also commended the efforts made by ERRA
to revive life in by
ensuring the construction of much spacious, better
designed and fully equipped facilities in place of
the buildings destroyed
by the earthquake, in compliance with its precept;
Build Back Better.
