Islamabad 18th August 2010: While dispatching 4 trucks of relief items that included tents, blankets, food stuff and daily use items to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chairman ERRA Altaf Muhammad Saleem talking to press said that ERRA though not directly involved in relief activities but being a government organization stands fully committed for contributing towards relief of flood affectees. ERRA has sent 20 trucks of relief items to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and AJK.
Chairman ERRA Altaf Muhammad Saleem said that ERRA has played a vital role in reconstruction and rehabilitation of earthquake affected areas, and reconstruction of more than 600, 000 rural houses is well recognized by donors and appreciated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Out of a total of over 13000 projects ERRA has successfully completed over 6000 projects in various sectors while 4000 projects are under construction. Highlighting significance of ERRA’s rural housing program, he said while rural housing program showing a success rate of 96% stands out internationally as a model program, where World Bank, ADB, Islamic Development Bank and France KAFD were ERRA’s partners; it is a matter of pride that our program is being considered as one of top five projects in the world.
He also said that enjoying Donor confidence ERRA’s financial management system has ensured transparency and own Prime Minister’s appreciation also, while DIFD being a partner with ERRA initially pledged 35 million pounds which due to on transparent procedures has been increased to 87 million pounds which speaks volumes about professional credibility of ERRA as an organization.
